Modulisme Session 037 und 038 mit Köhn und Warren Burt
KÖHN is Jürgen De Blonde who is not using modular synthesis per se although his music has always relied on synthesis. Köhn and Philippe Petit, the founder of the Modulisme plattform, have known each other for more than 20 years and he had released some of Köhn’s music on his defunct BiP_HOp label, back in the early 2000s, when Petit was considering him to be one of the most interesting European electronicists alongside Fennesz and Frank Bretschneider
Jürgen has released on KRAAK, Western Vinyl, Sonic Meditations a.o. and brings an original approach to sound experimenting with soundscapes, electronica and collaborations with musicians from different backgrounds.
Köhn is at the forefront of the experimental scene in Belgium and was among the lucky few to be allowed to work on the mythical EMS Synthi 100 Synthesizer @ I.P.E.M. (Institute for Psychoacoustics and Electronic Music).
Warren Burt is an Australian composer, performer, video artist, sound poet, writer, instrument maker (both in hardware and software, electronic and acoustic) and above all a pioneer who started to study modular synthesis back in 1969 at the State University of New York at Albany, with Joel Chadabe, and recorded these two compositions that are featured in the Modulisme Session series on a Buchla 100 in 1972.
